The Academic Staff Union of Universities has accused the Federal Government of irritating efforts to resolve problems that brought about the continued strike movement embarked upon by using the teachers.
He explained that the Federal Government has refused to take the necessary steps in addressing the strike movement.
According to him, the postpone in adopting ASUU’s desired platform, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, is one of the primary reasons why the strike has not been suspended.
He said, “The strike remains on as a result of the FG not taking the necessary steps. We gave them two weeks to cope with our 5 points demands.
“We engaged the government however they had been now not forthcoming. They had a whole year to cope with those issues. They gave us positions that had been not acceptable to our participants.
“During our first assembly, we idea they have been almost resolving the issues.
“What compounded the trouble is the difficulty of IPPIS. We have said that it is a distraction. There is not any university in the international that IPPIS is being used.
“We have performed three presentations of UTAS to the Minister of Education and his group, the management of Senate and Office of the Accountant-General. They most effective agreed that UTAS is everyday in principles.
“We are almost getting UTAS accepted but govt is announcing that our participants must first migrate to IPPIS before returning to UTAS. That makes no financial feel. The government has made it difficult for smooth negotiation. They stated our participants might be paid when they pass to IPPIS.”
