THE President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has approved the reinstatement of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Toyin Ogundipe, announcing his elimination by using the Governing Council did now not follow due system.
This became as the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, UNILAG Branch, lauded the decision of the President to reinstate Prof. Ogundipe.
The government stated the procedure adopted through the council in the appointment of Prof. Omololu Soyombo as performing Vice Chancellor of the college turned into inconsistent with the provisions of the law relating to the appointment of an acting Vice Chancellor.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, UNILAG department, Dr Dele Ashiru, defined the reinstatement of the ousted Vice Chancellor (Prof Ogundipe) as a confirmation that his purported removal became no longer only unlawful however vindictive.
“The reinstatement of the VC is a confirmation of the position of our union that his purported elimination changed into now not only unlawful, it became vindictive. It is our conviction that this choice by using government will restore peace, balance and scholarly development again to our college,” he said.
Also, the Chairman, NASU, UNILAG branch, Kehinde Ajibade, said, “It is a superb development; the VC has been vindicated and most of the people of member of workforce are happy to welcome him lower back.
