Nigerian actress Jumoke Otedola says that the plan by Federal Government to impose taxes on social media activities and businesses may discourage young talent.
If they introduce the tax system it will discourage a lot of young talents and creativity. If they have to introduce the tax, maybe, they can start with multinational companies, and exclude individuals. As for me, the timing is completely wrong,”
“Yes, social media is used for business. It’s a creative space where we showcase ourselves to the world. Many youth including teen comedienne Emmanuella, Ikorodu Boiz and others have done so much for themselves by showcasing their talents hence putting the country on a global map.
“But this kind of decision could cause aggressive reaction like: ‘Since they can provide our basic needs, and they are just trying to take from us. Do you hate us?”
