Her family moved back to Nigeria when she was 2 years old and she grew up in Festac Town. On the Elemide’s return to Nigeria, Her mother became a shopkeeper and her father shot video reports for weddings.
Young Asa had to deal with the harsh reality when her parents got divorced and though damaging for her she believes it came with unique blessings. The name ‘Asa’ was a Yoruba nickname given to her as a young age and it means ‘hawk’. Asa spent her formative years in the city of Jos, Plateau State, in northern Nigeria before returning to Lagos at the age of 18.
Asa’s mother enrolled her in the prestigious Corona High school Lagos and went further to federal government college in Jos and moved back to Lagos to attend Lagos State University and was enrolled in the department of Theatre Arts and Music. She got admission to study as a diploma student which required her spending about 2years but Asa spent only about a little over 6 months and then left because it was clashing with her professional musical classes at the renowned saxophonist, Peter King’s Musical School in Badagry, where she majored in Guitar studies for a year.

Asa discovered music while rummaging through her father’s music collection and discovered classics such as Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and Lagbaja. Growing up she was rejected by choirs because of the deep tone of her voice. When she moved back to France she got inspiration from contemporary musicians like Erika Badu, D’Angelo, Rafel Saadiq, Lauryn Hill and Angelique Kidjo.
Asa‘s education journey started in the mainland part of Lagos where her parents enrolled her in a good kindergarten school. On graduating from pre-school, she attended elementary school in the city.
She studied at an all-girls school for her secondary school education. She graduated from the institution with flying colors, having obtained her WASSCE.
She initially applied to study at the IMFP school of Jazz Music. However, her instructors advised against the idea and told her to go into music full-time. This is because she had already acquired all the knowledge needed to become a great music artist. So, there was no need for her to study at the school anymore.

He also shot video reports for weddings and other special events. Arsah Elemide, her mother, was a shopkeeper who supported her father. When she returned to Nigeria after studying abroad, she discovered that her parents had divorced. After her parents’ divorce, she grew closer to her mother and became more involved in music.
Her father’s extensive musical collection influenced her life and career choices, and his cinematography also influenced her acting abilities. Nonetheless, Asa is one of the few celebrities who have managed to keep their private lives hidden from prying eyes in the media. As a result, we know very little about her brothers and other family members.

Asa has always appeared to be single, or so she has persuaded others to believe. However, little is known about who she has dated, is dating, or will date. She stated that her fans believe she is self-conscious, but this is not the case; she is the result of good parenting and society.
Growing up, Asa was a shy tomboy, possibly because she was the only female among three boys. Asa was reported to be a lesbian in 2013, with her manager, Janet Nwosu, being her alleged lover. She denied the allegation and went so far as to sue the news organization that published it for libel. She revealed in 2014 that she had finally found the love of her life. It is unknown whether the lover is male or female.

In an interview in 2015, she stated that she lost her virginity at the age of 28. In another interview in 2015, she stated that she had found love and was dating a handsome Englishman whose true identity is unknown. We only know he is an entrepreneur who inspired her song “How Did Love Find Me.” On Instagram, a photo of them with their backs to the camera and facing the beach surfaced.
Nobody knows what happened, but the relationship ended due to irreconcilable differences. She is not currently in a relationship, and she is more concerned with her career than with having a relationship.
