Abibat Oluwafunmilola Aofiyebi (also known as Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi) was born in Lagos, Nigeria on November 24th. Her father was a well-traveled businessman and her mother was a nurse and entrepreneur when she was born in the mid-1970s, the last of seven children.

She was born in Lagos and raised in the United Kingdom as FAR. Her parents objected when she expressed an interest in acting as a secondary school student in England, so she spent three years of her life studying the sciences. Her mother, who lived in Nigeria with her father, thought she’d make an excellent doctor because she was naturally caring. Without their support, she pursued acting, which she began at the age of eight.
She earned a Certificate in Drama and Theater Arts from Westminster College, London in 1992. After returning to Nigeria in 1994, she obtained a Diploma and a BA in Sociology from the University of Lagos. She also took a TV acting course at the prestigious Actors Studio, Buckinghamshire also in London.

Lola first appeared on the Nigerian film scene in 1996, in the film Violated, directed by Amaka Igwe. She appeared alongside veterans such as Joke Silva and Richard Mofe Damijo. She has since carved a niche for herself in TV, Film, and Stage Productions. In the years that followed, she played lead and supporting roles in films such as Keeping Faith and Figurin, directed by Kunle Afolayan. Shirley Frimpong-Manso, an award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker, also cast FAR in the lead role in the drama/thriller Grey Dawn. She has also appeared in a number of stage and television productions, including Doctors Quarters, Palace, Solitaire, and Wetin Dey, among others.
FAR is also the owner of www.iamfar.com, an entertainment blog where she airs her thoughts and opinions on issues about the entertainment industry. She produced and presented radio show called Touch of Spice for 14 years having started in August 1999. Funlola sat in for Funmi Iyanda on the TV talk show, New Dawn, while the latter was on maternity leave in 2001.
In 2004, Lampost, the event management company in the Prima Garnet Group, offered her the position of senior client service manager, which she held for two years. Her fans were thrilled to see her return to the movies. Her performance in Kunle Afolayan’s 2009 thriller, The Figurine, was outstanding. Her longest running appearance on TV, is on the Mnet (Pan African Network) daily soap – Tinsel, where she has for 10 seasons played the Fierce and Memorable Villain, Brenda Mensah.
A dance enthusiast, Funlola won the maiden edition of a dance reality show – Celebrity Takes 2 in 2007, beating 9 other Nigerian Celebrities. This driven bundle of creativity also has some hosting/presentation experience and has plans of producing her original stories in the near future. She attends Film Festivals on a regular basis and has recently been contracted as a goodwill ambassador for both Black Star International Film Festival (Ghana) and Real Time Film Festival (Nigeria).
