Samuel Animashaun Perry, expertly mainstream with Broda Shaggi, is a multi-talented Nigerian entertainer, comedian, content creator, musician, and movie producer based in Lagos State.
He rose to prominence after one of his humorous videos, Jesus Christ In Mushin, went viral. Aunty Shaggi, real name Sophia Ojireoghene, asked him in the viral video what he would do if Jesus Christ was seen in Mushin, to which he responded in a hilarious way.
Broda Shaggi Early Life and Education
Broda Shaggi was born in Ikenne, Ogun State, Nigeria on July 6, 1993. He was born as the first child in a family of four boys and no females. He began his primary education at Mayflower Junior School in Ikene, Ogun State, while his father was still alive. Due to his father’s death, he was unable to continue his education there and was enrolled in another school, Heritage Primary School, where his mother could afford the fees. He did, however, relocate to Lagos State, where he grew up.
Shaggi’s father was a teacher at Mayflower Junior School in Ikene, Ogun State, where he taught theatre, dance, and music. Interestingly, the influence of his father made Shaggy build an interest in acting.
Shaggi has always been multi-talented in the areas of art right from childhood as he will teach & lead his classmates in Cultural dance in school, as well as act in church dramas as a kid, and was also good at drawing.
During his secondary school at Birrel Avenue Senior High Schools, he represented his school in a drawing competition that had up to 36 schools in Lagos competiing, He got the first position and won a cash prize of N100,000. After winning the ₦100,000 cash in the competition.
Though wing ₦100, 000 at the drawing competition, Shaggi couldn’t still find level ground for a career in drawing instead, he engaged himself more on acting. Shaggi got enrolled in the University of Lagos where he studied Creative Arts and in 2016, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts.

The Ogun State-born comedian began performing stand-up comedy while still in college. He decided to run agbero-style comedy because the gentleman style was not working. While at university, he began his comedy career with stage plays under the stage name Inspector Perry. Before settling on the name Broda Shaggi, he went by the stage names Akani Ibadan and Lecturer Dele.
He came to limelight after he started putting up lots of comedy skits on Instagram and other social media platforms, one of the famous being the comic video, ‘Jesus In Mushin‘ and the video spread like virus across the Nigerian internet space.
