Nollywood actress, Debbie Shokoya, recently received backlash from some fans after she was spotted praying at a mosque on Eid Mubarak day.
Recalls that Debbid actress announced her muslim name shortly after her boyfriend propose to her.
In a new twist, the actress took to her Instagram page to share photos of herself praying at a mosque with a caption that read, “Blessed Morning🙏Happy Weekend FAM❤️ Yesterday At Eid… My Sweet Amazing Mother In-Love🥰.”
However, some fans were not impressed and called her out for abandoning her Christian faith to embrace Islam.
One fan wrote, “It so easy to change the mind of those who don’t believe in something ,,,,a good and believed Christian who knows what he carries will never abandoned his/her believe for someone else prick as he/she will never see his own husband ,,,,,,it is well with you ,,,am just saying this because of some Christian that may want to fall into this because you do it as a public figure ,,,,,,,,those who are truly baptized who follow Christ ,,who preach Christ ,,who knows the powers of his restoration won’t fall for this cheap thing called marriage just to make another woman of there type to cry or weep,,,,,,may God be with you on the way you choose it your choice,,, ,,,.”
Another commented, “Hummm awon Sheleya Iyawo Alhaji.Yoruba celebrities and whala once you see them change religion like this begin cover hair .them Don turn person second or third wife..”
However, some fans defended the actress, stating that she has the right to worship however she pleases.
One fan wrote, ” Just focus on your self don’t get lost in other people saying 😍 may your new house be a blessing for you InshaAllah 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏”
Debbie Shokoya has not responded to the backlash.
