Nigerian actor and comedian, Jigan Baba Oja, has shown his support for musician Seun Kuti after news of his recent arrest made headlines.
Seun Kuti, son of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, was taken into custody and charged with assault on a police officer on Monday.
Jigan Baba Oja took to social media to express his solidarity with Seun Kuti.
He wrote , ” @bigbirdkuti I know everything will be fine 🙏”
Recalls that a video surfaced over the weekend showed Kuti having a confrontation with an unarmed policeman on a busy Lagos highway.
Kuti turned himself in to authorities Monday, accompanied by his lawyer, after Nigeria’s national police chief ordered his arrest.
Kuti, 40, claimed in a tweet that the officer had tried to harm him and his family, but did not give details about the alleged plot.
Magistrate court in Yaba remanded Afrobeat star, Seun Kuti, in police custody for 48 hours for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
The court also granted Mr Kuti a ‘suspended’ bail that will come to effect after the remand.
He was arraigned in court on Tuesday for assaulting a police officer, an offence contrary to Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act.
