Temitope Aina Oshin is a Nigerian television and film director, producer, consultant, and casting director. She is also the CEO and creator of Sunbow Productions. Pulse magazine named her one of the “9 Nigerian female movie directors you should know” in 2015. In honor of Women’s History Month, Tope was named one of OkayAfrica’s Okay100 Women in March 2018.
She received the “Interactive Campaign” award, which honors extraordinary women from Africa and the diaspora who are creating waves in a range of professions and having a positive impact on both their local communities and the global society.
Tope Oshin Early Life and Education
Tope was born on June 10, 1979, in Lagos State, Nigeria. She loved singing, dancing, and drawing as a child and desired to be an artist.
She went to Girls’ High School in Agege, Lagos, and Iganmode Grammar School in Ota, Ogun State for secondary school. She began studying economics at the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, but dropped out to pursue public administration at the University of Lagos, and later at the Lagos State University School of Theatre Arts, TV, and Film Production.
She grew interested in film production and cinematography while attending Colarado Film School at Aurora Community College in Denver and Met Film School in Ealing Studios, London.
She attended Itpan Study School in Gbagada, Lagos, after getting her B.A., for a brief training in acting skills and the visual and performing arts.

She began working as an actress for R & M Media in 2005. She began her career at 341 Media as an assistant director in 2007, but departed the following year to join Ark Resources Entertainment. She left Ark Resources in 2008 to work as an associate producer/assistant director for Storm Media Group.
In 2009, Tope Oshin began her career as a producer with Inspire Africa Productions. She joined M-Net in 2010 as a Box and Content Producer/Director and remained there until 2013, when she joined EbonyLifeTv. She began her career as the Acting Head of Drama at EbonyLifeTV before being promoted to Project Manager/Supervising Producer.
Tope worked as an actor for 12 years before transitioning to directing, appearing in films such as Relentless (2010) and serving as an assistant director on The Apprentice Africa. and has since gained fame for directing popular African TV dramas and soap operas such as Hush, Hotel Majestic, Tinsel, and MTV Shuga. Despite her work on a number of contemplative short films, including The Young Smoker, Till Death Do Us Part, New Horizons, and Ireti, she is best known for her 2018 feature film releases, Up North (film), and New Money, both of which were huge box office successes.
Tope presented the BBC documentary Nigeria-Shooting It Like A Woman in 2017 as a follow-up to her documentary and as part of the BBC 100 Women season to honour the new generation of female filmmakers who are reinventing Nollywood. Apart from the BBC World Service, a lot of other TV programmes and books, such as Niran Adedokun’s book Ladies Calling the Shots, were also impacted by Tope’s Amaka’s Kin-The Women Of Nollywood documentary.
