Saheed Osupa Biography
On August 7, 1969, Akorede Babatunde Okunola (popularly known as Saheed Osupa or King Saheed Osupa) was born in Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun local government area of Lagos state, Nigeria. His parents are Were musician Moshood Ajiwere Layeye and Taibatu Abeni Olatokunbo Adelanwa. Saheed is a film actor and a Fuji musician.
Saheed Osupa Early Life and Education
King Dr. Saheed Osupa was born on August 7, 1969, in the Mosafejo area of Ajegunle, Lagos State, but raised in Ibadan, Oyo State. He was born into the family of the late Alhaji Moshoodi Okunola, a well-known Etiyeri musician, and was an elder cousin to the late Fuji musician Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister.
Saheed Osupa’s father is a “Were” musician, and we can say that Saheed Osupa followed in his father’s footsteps by modernizing the Were musical phenomenon into what is now known as Fuji.
Saheed Osupa attended Lagos’ Amuwo Odofin High School, where he graduated in 1987. After studying Business Administration in 1992, he was admitted to The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where he completed his National Diploma (ND) Programme. He graduated from American International College, where he studied Networking Operations.
Saheed discovered his passion for singing and recording music while in school, and he launched his music career in 1983.

Saheed was a pioneer in the field of fuji music. He began his career in 1983, when Fuji was still a relatively unknown musical genre. With his exceptional charisma, he stood out against the background of contemporaries and drew listeners’ attention. He has since released over 28 albums, the first of which was called Fuji fadisco and was released in 1992. Ayinde Barrister, whom he regards as his Fuji lord, bestowed upon him the title “King of Music” in 2008.
Osupa has made more than just Fuji music; he also tried his hands on hip-hop. In 2014, fans enjoyed his single called “Vanakula”. In 2015, he released another work under this genre named “African Beauty”. The vocal part of the composition was performed by Yetunde Omobadan. In the same year, he created another single called “Womi”. He has also appeared in numerous Yoruba movies such as; Eni Eleni, Ero Sese Koowe, Ese Mefa Laye, Ose Maami, Ashiru Ejire, Onibara Ogunjo, Iku Oba and Igba Iwase.
Saheed and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma have had a rivalry. According to him, in 2010 and 2011, they had several conciliatory meetings which, unfortunately, did not bring the desired effect.

In 2014 Saheed Osupa released a hip hop single titled “Vanakula” and African Beauty with vocals from Yetunde Omobadan, in 2015 produced by K-Solo, On 8 August 2015, he featured Seriki in another single titled “Womi”
Saheed Osupa also went on to release his debut hip-hop album, which was titled “Lord of Music.”, Osupa has released many hip hop songs such as Abeke, Permutation featuring Qdot

Saheed Osupa is not only a talented musician, but he also acts in movies and likes this occupation a lot. Saheed Osupa has appeared in over 30 Yoruba films. He Presented Agbere Oju one of the best movie till today, Some of the most popular movies that feature him are “Eni Eleni”, “Ese Mefa Laye”, “Ero Sese Koowe” and “Ose Maami, Alukoro.”
