Rema Ikubor was born on May 1, 2000, into the Ikubor family. His parents gave him the name Divine eight days after he was born on Worker’s Day. He is the family’s firstborn and first male child.
Rema is Justice Ikubor’s son. His father, Justice Ikubor, was allegedly assassinated in a hotel room by political opponents.
He was born and raised in the South-South region of Benin City. He is an Edo State native. Despite growing up in a multi-cultural neighborhood, his parents raised him in the Christian faith. This meant that he spent his Sundays worshiping God at his local church.

Rema happened to perform in one of the shows where D’Prince was. He piqued the interest of the Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavins Records, which immediately called him up for a record signing deal.
He accepted the favorable deal and signed all necessary paperwork. Rema released his first single “Dumebi” under Jonzing World/Mavin Records, which was well received both nationally and beyond the border. The single “Dumebi” received widespread airplay and topped charts across multiple digital platforms. While “Dumebi” was doing well in the charts, Rema released an EP titled “Iron Man” in 2019 that debuted at number one on the Apple Music Chart Nigeria and also topped several African charts.
