Akin Omotoso, born June 24, 1974, is a Nigerian film actor, director, and writer. He is the son of writer Kole Omotoso and the brother of writer Yewande Omotoso. Akin is best known for directing the 2022 film Rise.
Akin Omotoso Early Life and Education
Akin Omotoso was raised in Ile Ife, Osun State, where he was born. He had his early education same in hometown in Osun State.
In 1992 after his father, Kole Omotoso, accepted a position as an academic at the University of the Western Cape, his family moved to South Africa.
Akin Omotoso was inspired to enroll at the same university and pursue a degree in speech and drama as a result. His mom passed away in 2003.

Akin Omotoso dabbled in the entertainment industry while still a student. He made his acting debut in Mark Fleishman’s Sunjata.
As a result, he received the Fleur du Cap Award for Most Promising Student in 1995. With the money he earned from performing in the play, he made his first short films, The Kiss of Milk, The Nightwalkers, and The Caretaker.
