David Babafemi Mauton Osunkoya (born May 14, 1970), addressed officially as Chief Femi Branch, is a gifted Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and television.
Celebrated for his multifaceted ability and delivery, he is one of the few respected figures in the Nollywood industry.
He is famous for his roles in movies like Undying (2021), Melody of Life (2004), and A Place in the Stars (2014).
Femi Branch Early Life and Education
Femi Branch was born in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria, on May 14th, 1970. His parents are Otunba Gbolade and Chief Mrs. Modupe Osunkoya of Odosenbora Town in Ijebu North-East local government area of Ogun State.
While growing up in Sagamu, Femi Branch‘s parents were teachers in the city. He attended Satellite Town Primary School in Ojo, Lagos State, Nigeria, and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.
After completing his primary school education, Femi Branch proceeded to Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.
After completing his secondary school education, he proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts.
Femi Branch Career
Femi began his acting career at Obafemi Awolowo University in 1991. That same year he featured in a Yoruba stage play titled Eniyan. He later featured in a movie titled Orisun which means “Origin”. The movie was produced by members of staff of Obafemi Awolowo University. His first appearance on television was in 2003 in an MTN Group television commercial titled “Dance With Me”. After his graduation from the university, he joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and rose to fame after playing the role of “Oscar” in the popular television soap opera “Domino”. He has since starred in over 100 Nigerian movies, a few of which he produced and directed by himself.
Some of the movies he has starred in include; Triangle, Senseless, Orirun, Away from Home, Twisted, The Italian Job, Akandun, A Place in the Stars, Fallen Angel, One Good Man, Out of Luck, Domino, Behind the Siege, Blaze of Glory, Emerald, This Life, Needles Eye, Wives and Concubines, and Desperate Housewives Africa.
