Nigerian actress, Foluke Daramola, has come under fire from some fans on social media after she made a statement about youths insulting elders on social media.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, the actress stated youths are now constantly disrespecting the elders on social media
She queried what happened to our value system as she noted how the youths have “lost their values” and are disrespecting their elders, which she believes is because of modernization.
Foluke Daramola added that in the next five years, youths will be beating up their parents because many are condoning their bad behavior.
She further dared the youth to disrespect her and face the consequences.
In her words, ” This is a pandemic that people are not taking cognizance of. When we have youths on social media writing all sorts of things about the eldérly,” she said in a video.
“All in the bid of supporting different parties, we have lost our values. In the next years to come, children will start beating their parents.
“They will start disrespecting them because of modernization. What happened to our value system? How did things degenerate to this?
This is a pandemic and in years to come, we’ll have a crisis on our hands. When these kinds of youths start having kids, how are they going to raise their kids?
“I beg everybody with everything you hold dear, don’t come to my page to say rubbish. I’m a disciplinarian, I won’t let it fly and I’m looking for a scapegoat.
“If you say anything stup!d, the repercussion will be very grave. My true followers know that I stand for value, I stand for what’s right, I stand for culture.”

However, some fans did not take kindly to her statement, accusing her of hypocrisy and pointing out that even some elders do not respect themselves.
One fan wrote, “I’m sorry to say this…this same value system that you are advocating for is what got us where we are…. cos even the elders don’t respect themselves anymore… treating people especially the young ones anyhow cos you are in a position of constituted authority. Personally won’t wish death on anyone or insult someone I don’t know on SM but most of us feel SM is the only place we can vent out our angers on people especially the elders that feel they can do things anyhow and get away with it. Don’t u feel it’s worrisome that most of the elders especially the ones in leadership positions don’t do the right thing until there has been an outcry on SM. Respect goes both ways ma. The world has moved on from the time of do as I say.
